PASIGHAT, Sep 22: A District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC)-cum-District Development Review (DDR) meeting was held at the DC’s conference hall here on Monday, with East Siang Deputy Commissioner Sonalika Jiwani in the chair, to review the progress of various developmental works and departmental activities in the district.
During the meeting, the DC directed all HoDs to submit updated status reports on the handing over and taking over of government assets following the creation of Lower Siang district, particularly in areas transferred to Lower Siang and those retained under East Siang. She also directed departments to furnish the status of Land Possession Certificates (LPCs) for departmental land areas at the earliest to secure the govt land from encroachment.
Taking note of wildfire incidents, the DC urged concerned departments to intensify public awareness on fire safety, precautionary measures and timely reporting. Reviewing infrastructure works, she directed the executing departments to complete assigned works within the stipulated timeframe without compromising quality. She stressed on the use of quality construction materials and emphasized that school and other educational institution buildings should be durable, spacious and conducive to students.
PMC Chief Councillor Tagom Padung raised the issue of the water crisis in Forest Colony, Pasighat, and sought intervention of the district administration and concerned line departments for an early resolution. Various other departmental issues were also discussed.
DDSE East Siang Odhuk Tabing highlighted the shortage of Mathematics and Science teachers in the district and informed that teachers were being engaged in some schools by arranging their remuneration, with support from the three MLAs of East Siang. He sought support from the district administration and officers to address the shortage, particularly for the coming five months.
The DC urged HoDs to extend possible support in ensuring continuity of teaching in schools.
The DC also reviewed the progress of departmental works and directed all HoDs to ensure timely completion of ongoing activities so that government schemes and services reach the people effectively. (DIPRO)
