SILLE, Sep 22: Stakeholders of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Sille, have resolved to jointly pursue the long-pending issue of land encroachment and formal demarcation and registration of the institution’s land.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at the school on Tuesday, attended by officials of the DDSE, East Siang, representatives of the Arunachal Teachers' Association (ATA), Sille-Oyan Block functionaries, school authorities, SMDC/SMC members, PRI representatives, Gaon Burahs, Sille-Oyan Banggo leaders, former student union leaders and community members.
GHSS Sille Principal Maktem Perme, who chaired the meeting, said the school land has remained unregistered since the institution was established in 1953. He said the school authority would initiate necessary steps for its proper demarcation and registration with the support of stakeholders.
Representing the DDSE, BEO (Academic) Okom John Panyang vowed departmental support in pursuing the matter with the competent authorities.
The meeting discussed the possible implications of encroachment on the school's infrastructure development, security and safety of students and proper use of institutional land.
It was decided to physically inspect the existing boundary and verify it against the available site plan, land records and other official documents. Necessary action will also be initiated for demarcation and registration of the school land in coordination with the competent authority.
The matter will be referred to higher authorities wherever required.
ATA East Siang district unit general secretary Kalen Komut said the association would support the initiative and stressed collective responsibility in protecting school assets and strengthening the educational environment.
The meeting concluded with stakeholders agreeing to work together to safeguard the school's land and promote a safe and conducive environment for students.
