PASIGHAT, Sep 24: An Awareness-cum-Input Distribution Programme on High-Value Fruit Crops was organized by Dr P K Nimbolkar, Asstt Professor, College of Horticulture and Forestry (CHF), Pasighat, at Sika Tode village in East Siang district under the chairmanship of Dr L Wangchu, Dean CHF.
The programme focused on promoting the cultivation of high-value fruit crops, including banana, pineapple, and dragon fruit, through integrated approaches aimed at strengthening tribal livelihoods and to develop diversified fruit village under CFI mission.
The programme was conducted under the Centre for Fruitful India-sponsored project titled ‘Nurturing Ecological Sustainability and Tribal Livelihoods through Innovative and Climate-Smart Fruit Tree Systems in NEHR of India.’
As part of the programme, interventions related to vegetables and flower cultivations were also undertaken by Dr Lily Devi, and Dr Veluru Bhargav (both Asstt Professors, College of Agriculture, Pasighat).
The initiative aimed to enhance farmers’ awareness, promote climate-smart horticultural practices, and strengthen sustainable livelihood opportunities among tribal communities.
