ITANAGAR, Sep 25: General Officer Commanding (GOC) 101 Area, Lt Gen Mohit Wadhwa, called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik at Lok Bhavan here on Friday and discussed logistics and administrative support, civil-military coordination, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) mechanisms in the Northeast.
The Governor commended the role of 101 Area, headquartered in Shillong, in facilitating combat logistics and operational coordination across the region. He also appreciated its prompt response during natural disasters, particularly floods and landslides, through rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s strategic importance, the Governor stressed the need for closer coordination among the Armed Forces, State Government and civil administration for effective disaster response and public welfare initiatives. He also called for enhancing transit routes, strengthening communication networks and administrative infrastructure to facilitate troop movement and border-area logistics.
The Governor further urged the GOC to strengthen welfare measures for ex-servicemen and Veer Naris, particularly by improving access to the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) and empanelling state healthcare institutions.
He also stressed facilitating access to resettlement and skill development programmes, educational assistance, pension-related services and state-supported re-employment opportunities for veterans.
Parnaik suggested regular awareness camps and medical outreach programmes in remote areas, besides closer coordination with the Rajya Sainik Board and Zila Sainik Boards to ensure eligible veterans and their families receive government benefits and entitlements.
The GOC assured the Governor of the Indian Army’s continued cooperation and support for the security, development and welfare of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, a communiqué from the Lok Bhavan said.
