YINGKIONG, Sep 27: Government services and welfare schemes were taken closer to residents of remote areas of Upper Siang district through Seva Sankalp Abhiyan camps organised at Pittung and Mariyang on Sunday, commemorating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service and leadership.
The Pittung camp, held at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), was inaugurated by Home Minister Mama Natung. Representatives of 21 government departments, including banks, participated in the camp and provided services and information on various welfare schemes.
Addressing the gathering, Natung said the month-long campaign was intended to strengthen public outreach and facilitate doorstep delivery of citizen-centric government services. He said such initiatives would help reduce the difficulties faced by people in remote and far-flung areas in accessing government facilities.
Natung also highlighted the Air Gun Surrender Movement and appreciated the Adi community for its participation in the wildlife conservation initiative. He, along with other dignitaries, participated in a tree plantation programme under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
Pani Taram, MLA cum Advisor, PHE & WS, outlined the activities planned during the campaign, being conducted from September 17 to October 17. Besides service-oriented camps, the programme includes sports and literary activities.
Taram emphasised the need to preserve indigenous languages and suggested that literary programmes be conducted in local languages. He also encouraged people to raise public issues through dialogue with the government and administration.
ZPM, Jengging-2, Orik Tali, and Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner Dr Ashok Tajo also addressed the gathering. Dr Tajo called for active public participation and cooperation for effective implementation of government schemes and programmes.
A Seva Sankalp camp was also held at Mariyang. It was inaugurated by Mariyang ZPM Karsing Pertin. Officials from various departments provided services and disseminated information on welfare schemes and Govt programmes, benefiting hundreds of people from Mariyang and adjoining areas. (DIPRO)
