ITANAGAR, Sep 27: Two workers, including a site supervisor, were allegedly abducted by three unidentified armed militants from a school construction site in Tirap district, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place around 8 pm on Friday at an under-construction site of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) in Barap village, falling under the jurisdiction of Lazu Police Station near the India-Myanmar border.
According to Tirap Superintendent of Police Aditya Singh, three armed underground cadres entered the site and whisked away a labourer and a site supervisor.
As of now, there is no confirmed information regarding the whereabouts of the missing duo, the SP said.
"A case has been registered at Lazu Police Station, and a detailed investigation is underway," the SP said, adding that joint search-and-rescue operations have been launched by the Arunachal Pradesh Police, Assam Rifles, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) across the region.
The exact circumstances surrounding the abduction and the identity or affiliation of the armed group are yet to be independently established. (PTI)
