ITANAGAR, Sep 29: Home Minister Mama Natung on Tuesday reviewed the progress of the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh inter-state boundary settlement process and urged the 12 Regional Committees of the two states to expedite their joint field visits and consultations.
Natung chaired a meeting with Principal Secretary (Home) Kaling Tayeng, Commissioner (Home) Nyali Ete and senior officers of the Home and Inter-State Boundary Affairs (ISBA) departments to take stock of the ongoing process.
He called upon the chairmen of the Regional Committees to undertake the field visits at the earliest in close coordination with their counterparts from Assam, while maintaining a spirit of dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation.
Natung emphasised that sustained engagement between the two states and constructive political consensus were essential for an early, amicable and mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining peace and harmony among communities living along the inter-state boundary and strengthening the cordial relationship between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The Home Minister directed the concerned officials and committee members to maintain close coordination with their Assam counterparts and ensure that the field-level process progresses through dialogue and consultation.
