Guv extends Gandhi Jayanti greetings

ITANAGAR, Oct 1: Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has extended greetings to the people of the State on the eve of the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

In his message, the Governor expressed hope that Gandhi Jayanti, also observed as ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’, would continue to inspire people to follow Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, peace and cleanliness.

He said Gandhi Jayanti is not only a day of remembrance but also an occasion to renew the commitment to truth, integrity, self-reliance and service to humanity.

The Governor highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s emphasis on the role of youth in nation-building, saying that his life and actions inspired generations to work with courage, discipline and a sense of purpose for the greater good.

He said Gandhiji’s message of self-reliance was particularly relevant to Arunachal Pradesh, which is endowed with rich biodiversity, vibrant cultures, fertile land, rivers, forests, horticultural produce and significant tourism potential. He called upon the youth to harness these resources through innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development and hard work to contribute to a prosperous and self-sustaining future.

Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Governor stressed the importance of dignity of labour, sustainable living, community welfare and responsible citizenship.

On Gandhi Jayanti, he urged the people to uphold truth and compassion, keep their surroundings clean, fight social evils and addiction, and contribute towards building a developed, inclusive and prosperous Arunachal Pradesh.
