ITANAGAR, Oct 1: The 395-metric tonne generator stator of Unit No. 7 of the 2,000-MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project was successfully lowered on September 30 (Wednesday), marking a significant milestone in the electro-mechanical works of the project.
According to NHPC Ltd, the critical operation was completed through coordinated efforts, precision engineering and detailed planning involving all stakeholders. The activity will facilitate further assembly of the generator stator in the Unit No. 7 pit and pave the way for its subsequent commissioning.
With the latest milestone, the project has moved closer to commissioning Unit No. 7 and achieving its full installed capacity of 2,000 MW, comprising eight units of 250 MW each.
NHPC CMD Bhupender Gupta congratulated the Subansiri Lower Project team, led by Executive Director and Head of Project Pradip Kumar Ray, along with the executing agency GE Vernova, on the achievement.
Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also welcomed the development and congratulated NHPC, the project team and all stakeholders involved. He said the milestone would bring the project closer to full commissioning and contribute to strengthening the Northeast’s power infrastructure and harnessing Arunachal Pradesh’s energy potential.
The successful lowering of the stator is expected to facilitate further electro-mechanical works towards the operationalisation of the nationally important hydropower project, officials said.
