GUMTO, Oct 2: The Green Bee Club of the Department of Sociology, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), organised a community outreach and awareness programme at Government Upper Primary School, Gumto, in Papum Pare district on Friday in collaboration with the Aanwg Anya Foundation.
The programme, held on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, aimed at promoting environmental awareness, moral values, child protection, career awareness, sports, health and hygiene among school students.
Members of the Green Bee Club, comprising MA first-semester students, conducted a series of interactive activities, including dramas, role plays, short acts and demonstrations on environmental protection, moral values, POCSO awareness and career guidance.
The school students actively participated in indoor and outdoor educational games and recreational activities, making the programme interactive and engaging.
The Aanwg Anya Foundation donated sports equipment, including a carrom board, badminton equipment, footballs and volleyballs, to encourage students to participate in sports and recreational activities. The Foundation also provided sanitation and hygiene materials, besides a first-aid box and sanitary napkins for girl students.
Headmistress Tana Yaku Taha welcomed the visiting team and appreciated the initiative undertaken by the Green Bee Club, and the Aanwg Anya Foundation. She also acknowledged the cooperation of all those involved in making the programme successful.
The programme provided an opportunity for interaction between university students and the school community while creating awareness among children on environmental conservation, child safety, career choices, health, hygiene and social responsibility.
