Tawang Police cracks burglary case; two arrested

TAWANG, Oct 4: Tawang Police, with assistance from Dirang Police, has cracked a burglary case reported from Khrimu village and arrested two persons in connection with the theft.

The case came to light after Tenzin Lhamu of Khrimu village lodged a complaint at Tawang Police Station on October 2, reporting the theft of cash, old currency notes, traditional local items, silver ornaments and a silver finger ring from her residence.

Acting promptly, a police team led by Tawang Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector N Angu, comprising SI Lham Thinle, SI Sangey Wangchu, constable Sonam Dawa and constable (driver) Tenzin Namgey, launched an investigation under the supervision of Tawang SP Tasi Darang.

The team analysed CCTV footage from the area and subsequently identified and tracked the suspects. With operational assistance from Dirang Police, the two accused were apprehended.

The accused have been identified as Mahibul Islam, 28, and Jahirul Islam, 33, both residents of Aminpara village in Rowta, Udalguri district of Assam.

Police recovered traditional local items, silver ornaments, silver finger rings, ATM cards and various identity documents from their possession.

The accused have been remanded to police custody for further investigation and questioning.

The police said the swift detection of the case reflected effective investigation, inter-district coordination and prompt action by the personnel involved. (DIPRO)
