Guv commends Khandu Govt’s outreach on SUMP

Khandu called on the Governor at Lok Bhavan here and briefed him on key developmental priorities of the State, including strategic infrastructure projects, inclusive growth and initiatives aimed at securing the long-term interests of the people.

The Chief Minister apprised the Governor of the proposed SUMP, which he described as a project of national importance with significant implications for water security, energy generation, flood moderation and regional development. Khandu also briefed him on the government’s extensive public outreach aimed at creating awareness and gathering feedback on the project’s Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR).

Appreciating the State Government’s approach, the Governor said direct engagement with local communities and stakeholders was vital for building public confidence, addressing concerns transparently and ensuring that people remained informed participants in the development process while advancing the developmental needs of the State and the nation.

He said meaningful dialogue with citizens strengthens democratic decision-making and helps create a shared understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with major infrastructure projects. He expressed confidence that sustained consultation and public participation would contribute to informed and constructive outcomes.

The Governor also applauded the State Government on securing two Best Performing State Awards for its performance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) and PMAY-U 2.0 at the World Habitat Day 2026 celebrations organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. He said the awards reflected the State’s efforts to improve the quality of life of urban residents and ensure that the benefits of development reach eligible citizens.
