SEPPA, Oct 8: The 1st ever Inter-School Annual Cultural Meet 2026 concluded successfully at Nyokum Lapang here on Wednesday, following three days of cultural celebrations, sports and educational activities.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 2,000 students from various schools across East Kameng district, marking a significant milestone in promoting cultural heritage, nurturing young talent and strengthening the spirit of unity among students.
The Cultural Meet was organized under the theme “Rooting Our Future with Our Rich Tradition and Culture,” reflecting the importance of preserving indigenous traditions, cultural values and ancestral heritage while preparing the younger generation to embrace the advancing society.
This first-of-its-kind gathering was jointly organised by the Department of School Education, East Kameng, and the All East Kameng District Students’ Union (AEKDSU), with the guidance and support of the District Administration, East Kameng.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony as chief guest, P D Sona, Minister of Education, RWD, Parliamentary Affairs, Tourism and Libraries, called upon the stakeholders to demonstrate collective commitment, responsibility and determination towards transforming the education scenario of the State. Highlighting the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the future of students and society, he underscored the importance of their dedication, sincerity and responsibility in ensuring quality education.
In a major step towards strengthening the education sector in East Kameng district, a series of educational infrastructure projects was also inaugurated with an objective to contribute towards improving educational facilities, enhancing the learning environment and creating better opportunities for students.
The programme was also attended by the AAPSU president as guest of honour and MLA Seppa East AC among other dignitaries.
DDSE East Kameng Tai Tach emphasized the importance of continued improvements in educational facilities and learning opportunities and its potential to bring positive transformation in the district.
The cultural programme also had an integrated approach of sensitizing the young minds on social issues by incorporating awareness on ‘POCSO Act 2012, Power of Education, Say No to Drugs’.
The event also witnessed the presentation of various awards to the participating schools in recognition of exceptional performances. Govt Hr Sec School Seppa secured the Championship award and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya (NSCBAV) Sangchu, was conferred the Best Discipline Award.
The three-day celebration marked a meaningful occasion for East Kameng district, reaffirming the shared vision of preserving the intangible rich cultural heritage and traditions while recognizing education as a powerful weapon for academic excellence and social transformation. (DIPRO)
