KANUBARI, Oct 9: Agriculture and Allied Minister Gabriel D Wangsu on Friday handed over departmental vehicles to the Horticulture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development (AHV&DD) departments of Longding district here, emphasising the need for their effective utilisation to strengthen field operations and improve service delivery, particularly in remote areas.
The distribution programme was attended by Longding Deputy Commissioner Kunal Yadav, Kanubari ADC Pebika Lego, Horticulture Director Tobom Bam, Fisheries Director Ngilyang Pussang and AHVDD Director Danjan Longri, heads of the concerned departments, government officials and public leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Wangsu said the distribution of vehicles was being undertaken in phases across identified districts of the state, based on departmental performance and operational requirements.
He highlighted the crucial role of agriculture and allied departments in supporting farmers, livestock rearers and other rural communities, noting that effective service delivery required regular field visits, especially in remote and difficult-to-access areas.
The minister urged officers to discharge their duties with sincerity, dedication and commitment, assuring them of the government’s continued support in strengthening their working capacity. He expressed confidence that the additional vehicles would improve field-level interventions and contribute to agricultural development in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Kunal Yadav welcomed the initiative, noting that the vehicles would significantly ease the difficulties faced by departmental officers who frequently travel long distances to carry out their responsibilities. He urged the officers to make optimum use of the vehicles to improve field performance and service delivery.
The Directors of Horticulture, Fisheries and AHV&DD also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the importance of improved mobility in strengthening departmental operations.
Later in the day, Wangsu inspected various ongoing construction projects in Kanubari sub-division to assess their progress.
