ITANAGAR, Oct 14: Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has extended warm greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly the Sajolang community, on the occasion of Chindang Festival.
In his message, the Governor expressed hope that the festival would strengthen cultural identity and reinforce the commitment to preserving the state’s rich indigenous heritage for future generations.
He said Arunachal Pradesh’s cultural richness was reflected in its diverse indigenous traditions, festivals, rituals and customary practices, which symbolised the deep bond between communities, nature and ancestral wisdom.
Chindang, he said, embodies the Sajolang people’s reverence for nature, with prayers and traditional observances seeking blessings for a bountiful harvest, family well-being and the protection of people and domestic animals.
Describing such traditions as a precious inheritance, the Governor said they strengthened cultural identity and community spirit. He appealed to people, particularly the youth, to understand, respect and carry forward their indigenous heritage while protecting forests, rivers, mountains and other natural resources that had sustained communities for generations.
On the festive occasion, Parnaik joined the Sajolang community in offering prayers for peace, harmony, good health and prosperity for all.
