MALIGAON, Oct 26: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) today marked the commencement of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, observed from 26th October to 1st November. Along with this, a newly constructed Lachit Borphukan Sports Complex was inaugurated at its B G Colony area here.
General Manager NFR Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inaugurated the sports complex/athletic ground, in presence of other senior railway officials and staffs.
At NFR, the Vigilance Awareness Week carries the theme “Probity for Prosperity”, emphasising the importance of honesty, transparency and accountability in public service.
The observance was inaugurated by the Additional General Manager at its NFR headquarters, Maligaon and by the Chief Administrative Officer-I/CON at NFR’s headquarters (Construction premises), in presence of other senior officials and staffs.
The opening day’s programme included the Integrity Pledge and walkathons, encouraging railway personnel to uphold ethical practices and share responsibility in combating corruption. The week-long observance will include activities like street plays, release of a Vigilance Bulletin and a workshop on “Preventive Vigilance in Contract Management”. These activities form part of NFR’s wider preventive vigilance campaign, aimed at preventing irregularities, improving administrative practices and strengthening public confidence.
Similarly, the newly inaugurated Lachit Borphukan Sport Complex, located near Sirisha Rail Udyan at Maligaon, features an archery training facility and a world-class synthetic athletics track. The facilities will provide a dedicated environment for structured training, helping emerging athletes build a strong foundation and enabling established players to refine their technique, fitness and competitive performance. The complex is expected to strengthen NFR’s sporting infrastructure and support the development of talent from the region.
Through these initiatives, NFR seeks to promote the values of integrity, discipline and dedication in both public service and sports. The vigilance programmes will encourage responsible and transparent working, while the new sports complex will create opportunities for athletes to pursue excellence and bring recognition to the Railways and the nation.
