TAWANG, Oct 26: Dream for United Arunachal (DUA) and the Monpa Mimang Tsogpa (MMT) have agreed to strengthen cooperation in community welfare, youth empowerment, awareness of government schemes and administrative reforms across Arunachal Pradesh.
The understanding emerged during an interactive session in Tawang, where representatives of both organisations discussed ways to improve grassroots outreach and ensure that eligible beneficiaries in remote and border areas could access government welfare schemes.
MMT president Er Phurpa Wangyal welcomed the DUA delegation and highlighted the role of civil society organisations in promoting development and communal harmony. He also outlined MMT’s initiatives in community awareness, educational support and preservation of Monpa cultural heritage.
MMT secretary Tsering stressed the need for stronger inter-district coordination and closer engagement between youth organisations and community bodies.
DUA chairman Dr Gumjum Haider outlined the vision behind the organisation’s “EK AUR DUA” (Empathy, Kindness, Arunachal Unity Ride) initiative, which seeks to promote unity, spread awareness of government programmes and connect remote communities with governance mechanisms.
DUA general secretary Suraj Tayam spoke about the organisation’s formation and its focus on administrative reforms, youth empowerment and social justice.
Bilaseng Namchoom highlighted government schemes, including the Atma Nirbhar Krishi Yojana, Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana. He observed that lack of awareness and procedural hurdles often prevent people in rural and border areas from fully accessing available benefits.
He called for coordinated efforts by DUA and MMT to help eligible families, farmers and young people with documentation, registration and bank linkages to improve access to government entitlements.
Earlier, the DUA delegation, led by vice-chairman Sonam Tenzin, visited Lumla subdivision and Dudunghar, near the Indo-Bhutan border. The team paid tribute to late former MLA and DUA chief patron Jambey Tashi at his memorial museum and offered prayers at Gyalwa Jampa Lhakhang in Buri Bletting village and the monastery at Dudunghar.
The programme also featured a football diplomacy match between DUA XI and MMT XI at the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium in Tawang. DUA XI won 5–2, with Gumjum Haider scoring twice and Suraj Tayam opening the scoring.
