RONO HILLS, Nov 6: Students of BSc Agriculture (3rd semester) at Rajiv Gandhi University today visited the Department of Mass Communication as part of their practical learning activities, gaining firsthand exposure to the workings of electronic media and its role in communication and rural development.
The visit was organised by the Department of Agricultural Extension and Communication under the guidance of Azhanuo Rutsa, Course In-Charge, and accompanied by Dr Devegowda S R, HoD. It formed part of the practical activity on “exposure to mass media.”
During the visit, students took part in an interactive session with Dr Arvind Kumar Pal, Asstt Professor, Dept of Mass Communication. He spoke on the functioning of community radio, covering programme planning, scriptwriting, audio production and broadcasting. Dr Pal also stressed the importance of community radio as an effective medium for sharing information, creating awareness and encouraging community participation, particularly among rural communities.
The programme also included an exposure session at the television studio, where students were introduced to the stages of television programme production: pre-production, production and post-production. The session gave students a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with practical experience, and helped them better understand how radio and television can be used to disseminate agricultural information.
The Dept of Agri Extension and Communication expressed its sincere appreciation to Dr Pal and the Dept of Mass Communication for their insights and support in making the visit a meaningful learning experience for the students.
