ITANAGAR, Dec 24: The United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent), ULFA(I), has reportedly claimed the responsibility of abducting two employees of oil-drilling firm, Quippo Oil & Gas Infrastructure Ltd, from their drilling site at Kumchai Kha village under Innao circle of Changlang district on Monday last.

According to Changlang DC Devansh Yadav, the CEO and the manager of the company received separate calls from someone who claimed to be from ULFA (I) on Wednesday morning demanding ransom of Rs 20 crore for the release of the two employees.

“Though he did not say anything more, the anonymous caller said further details would be provided later,” Yadav informed.

The company’s drilling superintendent PK Gogoi, a resident of Assam’s Sivasagar, and radio operator Ram Kumar, who hails from Bihar, were abducted by masked gunmen at gunpoint on Monday evening from the drilling site of the company at Kumchai Kha village under Innao circle of Changlang district. Since then their whereabouts was not known even if a massive search operation was launched by the security forces.

The DC further informed that the SP, Changlang and the Special Task Force team are currently at the incident site and are coordinating in the search operation.
