Khandu congratulates Lovlina

ITANAGAR, Jul 30: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Lovlina Borgohain, who sealed a place in the semi-finals and confirmed the country's first boxing medal at the ongoing 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Khandu, who himself is an avid sports aficionado, also encouraged the young boxer to go for the gold medal.

The 23-year-old boxer from Assam’s Golaghat defeated former world champion Nien-Chin Chen of Chinese Taipei 4-1 in the women’s Welterweight (64-69kg) quarter-finals today.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Khandu wrote: “Another Boxing legend from #NorthEast @LovlinaBorgohai Daughter of India! She enters the elite club of Olympic medal winner of #IndianBoxers defeating former world champion Nien-Chin Chen. #Congratulations! #GoForGoldLovlina”.
