ITANAGAR, Dec 19: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has stressed for maintaining cordial relations between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, as enjoyed by the neighbouring states since time immemorial.
The Dy CM laid this stress while gracing the closing ceremony and the final of the 13th National Invitational Football Tournament 2021 for Bodousa Cup, organized by Bodousa Sports Club at Tinsukia District Sports Association playground at Tinsukia today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mein said that football is the most popular game in the world including in the region. He said that North East Region has produced many talented football players in the past, as footballers from Arunachal like late Indrajit Namchoom and late Surjit Gohain had represented Assam state team at the national level.
He also called for carrying forward the legacy of football in the region (NER), according to an official release.
Luca SC Kerala won the 13th Bodousa Cup by edging out Kerala United FC 1-0 in the final.
Aside from receiving the winner’s trophy, Luca SC Kerala was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.
The tournament was played in 16 different venues across Assam and 42 football teams from local and national level participated in this year’s edition.
Among others, Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment Rameswar Teli also attended the closing ceremony.
