East Siang holds coord meet on upcoming Balek GSS platinum jubilee celebration

MLA takes review of preparations

PASIGHAT, Sep 20: Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein will be a part of the Balek Govt Sec School Platinum Jubilee celebration (BGSSPJC), scheduled to be held from October 25 to 27 next at Balek village under Pasighat circle in East Siang district.

In this regard, a coordination committee meeting was held today under the chairmanship of local MLA Kaling Moyong and attended by DC Tayi Taggu, SP Sumit Kr Jha, organizing chairman Oyem Dai, secretary Tobom Dai, DDSE Odhuk Tabing, PMC Chief Okiam Moyong Borang, HoDs, elected representatives and all celebration committee members.

The Balek GSS is one of the oldest schools of the State, which was established in 1946, upgraded to UPS in 1965, further upgraded to secondary level in 1982 and was affiliated to CBSE in 1985.

While seeking wholehearted cooperation from the society to make the celebration a grand success, the MLA stated that committees and subcommittees of BGSSPJC were working in tandem and everything was going in the right direction. He reviewed the progress on various plans for the celebration and advised the committee members to use every penny judiciously in a befitting manner.

The MLA expressed his gratitude to the CM and the Dy CM in particular for their moral support for smooth conduct of the event. He added that there has been noticeable progress over the last one year and the VVIPs would inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of many projects on the inaugural day.

The DC opined that such meetings provide a chance for committee chairmen and other members to understand each others’ perspective. Taggu, on behalf of the district administration, assured to extend all logistic support and cooperation for smooth conduct of the ensuing celebration.

The SP also assured that adequate measures would be taken on priority to tackle law and order, traffic management and all other security related issues by the Police department.

Among others, Oyem Dai, Tobom Dai, chairman (resource mobilization) Tajom Tasung, headmaster Kalom Ering and SMC members of Balek GSS also shared their views and experiences. (DIPRO)
