ITANAGAR, Apr 2: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has imposed penalties of Rs 25,000 each on Public Information Officer (PIO), PWD Capital Circle-cum-Coordination Training & Vigilance (Itanagar), ST Tara, and PIO-cum-EE (WRD), Namsai Division, CJ Manow for non-compliance of the Commission’s directions and for gross violation of the provisions of the RTI Act 2005.
The SPIOs were earlier issued show cause notices and directed to furnish para-wise reply to the show cause notice on or before the date of hearing, i.e. March 26. They have neither complied with the orders of the Commission nor appeared before the Court of Commission on the date fixed for hearing.
The PIOs have been directed to deposit the penalty amount in favour of the Registrar, APIC before April 30, besides being asked to produce the proof of depositing the amount through Treasury Challan along with all the documents as sought by the appellants in the next date of hearing, failing which it said additional action under section 20(2) of the RTI Act 2005 would be initiated.
