CME held on ‘cancer awareness and its prevention’

ROING, Apr 29: A Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on ‘Cancer Awareness and its Prevention’ was organised by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Lower Dibang Valley district at the conference hall of the District Hospital here on Monday.

Inaugurating the CME, Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh suggested organizing regular cancer awareness programmes in the district.

Professor & Head, Department of Pathology, Patna Medical College and Hospital, Dr Dilip Kumar and Associate Professor & Head, Dept of Pathology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Bhagalpur (Bihar) Dr Deepak Kumar delivered lectures on cancer awareness and its prevention.

Specialists, medical officers, nursing officers, and other paramedical staff of the Health Department and the officials from WCD/ICDS also attended the programme where causes of cancer and its preventive measures were explained in length.

As per the latest report, tobacco is the main cause of cancer in India and the world, and almost 50% of the cancer cases can be prevented by quitting or stopping taking of tobacco. (DIPRO)
