A healthcare provider enlightens CWSN students on ‘autism’

PASIGHAT, Apr 29: A number of parents and children with special needs (CWSN) participated in a one day autism awareness-cum-parental training and interactive programme held at Spring Centre for child development at Diking village, Pasighat today.

The programme, led by Dr Oimang Megu, founder and chairperson of the Spring Centre, started with a welcome group dance by the children of the centre and was taken over by Occupational Therapist (healthcare provider) Joji Verghese, who enlightened the members present about autism, its symptoms, assessment and various therapies required.

Dedicated to CWSN, the centre provides occupational therapy, speech therapy, behavioural therapy and special education. At present, children from East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Siang, Lower Siang and Lower Dibang Valley districts are benefitting from the centre.

After the formal sessions, queries put forward by the parents were answered by the therapist. This was followed by games for both parents and children. The function concluded with prize distribution to all the participants. (DIPRO)
