ITANAGAR, Oct 13: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who attended a one-day mental health care campaign organized by Deepak Nabam Living Home at Senki Park here today, has hailed the DNLH for its commendable service to those who need it the most while assuring it of enhanced government support.
In his address, Mein expressed deep appreciation for the compassion and commitment with which the DNLH, officially recognized as a ‘Half-Way Home for Mental Disabilities’ has been serving individuals who are mentally and physically challenged, elderly persons, and those recovering from substance dependence.
He commended the dedication of the staff and volunteers, stating that “Deepak Nabam Living Home truly lives up to its name as a Home for No Home, empowering every individual to live with dignity, purpose, and meaning.”
“Our Government remains fully committed to supporting this Half-Way Home for Mental Disabilities, which is an obligation under the PWD Act, 1995. Such institutions stand as shining examples of humanity in action, reminding us that empathy and compassion can bring light into the lives of those who need it most,” Mein said.
Recognizing the institution’s invaluable service, the Dy CM assured that the State government will enhance the Grants-in-Aid support from Rs 72 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore, beginning next financial year. He also assured that the government will extend assistance to upgrade temporary structures into permanent facilities in a phased manner. He also assured to provide a fund of Rs 50 lakh for developing a playground for the institution.
He further noted that Deepak Nabam Living Home has become a sanctuary of care where every person regardless of physical, mental, or social challenges is treated with love, dignity, and equal respect. “Just as light dispels darkness, this initiative brings hope and reaffirms the divine purpose of service,” he remarked.
The programme concluded with a collective message of inclusion, compassion, and mental wellness, reaffirming the State government’s commitment to strengthening mental health care and social welfare systems across Arunachal Pradesh.
Among others, Arunachal Pradesh State Biodiversity Board Chairman Hawa Bagang, DNLH Chairman Deepak Nabam, prominent social worker Taba Yall, and Arunachal Christian Forum president Tarh Miri were also present. (Dy CM’s media cell)
