ITANAGAR, Oct 13: The Kerala Kala Samskarika Vedi, an organization dedicated to the welfare and cultural enrichment of the Malayalee community working in Arunachal Pradesh, celebrated its 31st Anniversary-cum-Onam Festival with great enthusiasm and grandeur at the DK Convention Centre here on Sunday.
The celebration was inaugurated by Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja, in presence of local MLA and Advisor to the Minister, Techi Kaso, and other dignitaries.
The colourful event featured a variety of cultural performances, including traditional dances, songs, and artistic presentations that showcased the rich heritage of Kerala and the vibrant traditions of Arunachal Pradesh. Members of the Vedi, along with children and youth from the Malayalee community, actively participated, reflecting the spirit of unity and cultural harmony.
As part of the celebration, the Vedi felicitated meritorious students of Classes X and XII from all streams for their academic achievements during 2024-25. A special honour was also presented to Hano Jimi, the top-performing APST student from a Government School in the Itanagar Capital Region, for her outstanding academic excellence.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Balo Raja and other dignitaries appreciated the Vedi’s sustained efforts in promoting community welfare, cultural integration, and social harmony among the Malayalee community in Arunachal Pradesh. They commended the organization for fostering inter-community exchange and contributing positively to the state’s social fabric.
The function was presided over by Babu Kandathil, president of Kerala Kala Samskarika Vedi and conducted under the leadership of Akshay Vikram, general secretary.
