Against all odds, Bomdila ZGH team saves a precious life

BOMDILA, Apr 13: Fighting all odds, the medical team at Zonal General Hospital (ZGH), Bomdila came up with a tremendous surgical achievement to save a precious life.

The ZGH (Bomdila) achieved a significant medical milestone by successfully conducting an emergency life-saving surgery for a patient with intestinal obstruction and gastric perforation. Despite harsh weather conditions and limited staff in this remote location, the experts’ team saved a critically ill patient.

Referred from CHC Dirang with severe abdominal pain, distention, and breathing difficulties, the patient was diagnosed with acute intestinal obstruction and perforation. The OT team, led by Dr Ani Siram (Sr Anesthesiologist) and Dr Tomeru Rina (Surgeon), supported by OT nursing staff Pema Chuki, Rashmi, Kanchan, Unya, and OT Asstt Lobsang, performed Graham’s patch repair of the gastric perforation.

Post the successful operation, the patient is stable, recovering well, and under observation.

This achievement highlights the hospital’s growing capabilities in delivering specialized surgical care locally, eliminating the need for out-of-district referrals. The team’s dedication and expertise provided life-saving services to the community. (DIPR)
